2nd Annual 2014 Optics Fling – Free event

Location: Time & Optics Dates: June 6-7 Hours: 8:00-5:00pm

Door prizes every hour —– Free coffee and donuts from a local bakery!

This is what you have been waiting for! An optics event in Amish Country in the Heart of Ohio.

Only minutes to popular places like Heini’s Cheese, Troyer Cheese, Walnut Creek Cheese, Kauffman Bakery, The Farm in Walnut Creek, Hershberger’s Truck Patch and many other places. Also lots of well known restaurants and furniture stores!

Each person or group of people will be served on a one-on-one basis in this “try-before-you-buy” event which will be an amazing opportunity to try out all kinds of binoculars, spotting scopes, tripods, and other outdoor birding gear and supplies.

There will be some used, discontinued, or otherwise on sale items including binoculars and spotting scopes.

Used books, magazines, and other bird related items will also be available at affordable costs!

Representatives from major optics companies will be on site to demo their products.

If you have any questions about birds, optics, digiscoping or anything else, there should be someone at this event to answer you questions.

Book signing will be held at the event on Friday June 6th at 4-5pm, and Saturday June 7th at 11am-1pm

Featuring: Kenn & Kimberly Kaufman, authors of Kaufman field guides. Meet and visit with Kenn & Kim. They will be leading field trips, signing books, and just share your excitement about birds!

You will also be able to renew or sign up for your Ohio Young Birder’s Club membership.

Greg Miller, featured in the Big Year, will also be leading field trips and signing books. Meet and visit with Greg. He will be happy to answer any questions on birding and birding sites!

There will be local artists and craftsmen on site as well showing their quality products.

The Medina Raptor Center will be on site with live birds Friday 10am-4pm.

Don & Diana Plant will be on site with bat houses!

Both days will have free guided field trips to see Barn Owls, Cliff Swallow colonies, Blue Grosbeaks, Lark Sparrows, and Bobolinks. You should also see many other birds including Red-headed Woodpeckers and other desirable species.

Visit our optics display and receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win some great prizes!  There will be a number of raffle items given away including binoculars and spotting scope!  Drawing will be Saturday June 7th @ 4:00pm.  This will be one of the finest optics events in the state. It will be like shopping in an optics warehouse. You will have to see it to believe it!

-a little hard to find, but great prices on produce!! An Amish family runs this place. Bring change and dollar bills–you may need to feed the money can as “staff” is often out in the fields.
