Pirate Birding? Ahaha. Well yes. But what is Pirate Birding? Don’t pirates steal stuff from other people? Exactly! But in birding, it is completely legit. What??!! I mean bird sitings. Duh. Other people’s bird sitings. Not telescopes, binoculars, or photo equipment!
Why it is perfectly normal to go chasing after OPB–Other Peoples’ Birds. Many of us do it all the time, too. Of course, it’s never as much fun as finding your own rare bird and reporting it publicly so other people can practice Pirate Birding–chasing the bird that you found!
Put yer eye patches on, matey! Let’s go Pirate Birding!
So here is a select list of some good birds (North America) to whet your appetite for Pirate Birding.
